Nathan Rooks is a native of Portsmouth, VA. He is the owner of Rooks Enterprises LLC, a company that provides many services centered around music instruction, piano or organ accompaniment, choral or gospel conducting, and producing or arranging music. Nathan has obtained two degrees in music education; a master’s degree from Boston University (2018) and a bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University (2010). 

Nathan Rooks is a talented and gifted musician who enjoys making music be it accompanying, conducting, producing or arranging. Nathan has a unique musicianship of understanding both gospel and classical music. He is an accomplished Hammond organist, gospel pianist/keyboardist, and gospel choir director, as well as a classical pianist, classical singer, and choral conductor.He has accompanied a many of notable preachers and national recording artist such as: Bishop C.E. Blake Sr., the late Bishop G.E. Patterson, Bishop Rudolph McKissick, Bishop Anthone White, the late Pastor Timothy Wright, Dr. Rance Allen, Pastor Norman Hutchins, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Ricky Dillard, Vicki Winans, Detrick Haddon, and the legendary Caravans, just to name a few. Nathan has served as a Hammond organist and workshop clinician for the Hampton University Minister’s Conference since 2009. He placed 2nd in the NANM Hampton Roads Pipe Organ Competition in March 2008. He won 1st place in the Tidewater Area Musicians Classical Piano Competition and was a 3rd place finalist in the NANM Regional Piano Competition in April 2010. Nathan has played for many recording sessions for artists such as: Pastor Joe Baker, Anthony “Junebug” Turner, Peggy Britt ‘New Season’ (He Brought Joy, Hammond organ), Dr. Patrick Bradley & The Westside Baptist Church Mass Choir ‘One Witness’ (It’s a Blessing, Hammond organ), Patrick Riddick & D’vyne Worship, ‘A Song for Every Worshipper’ (music director, arranger, Hammond organ, keyboard, drum programming), and Songflo Creatives ‘Bring Back the Hymns’ (He Is Lord, Revive Us Again, Power in the Blood, Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand, and All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name: producer, arranger, piano, keyboards, Hammond organ, pipe organ, drum programming), and Earl Bynum ‘This Song Is For You’ (Bless The Lord O My Soul,main keyboard). He is also the author of two books titled The Gospel Musician Volume 1: A Complete Guide for Playing Preacher Chords Progressions, Gospel Runs, Worship Music Chords and Chord Progressions andThe Gospel Musician Volume 2: The Praise Break. These two books were created to assist musicians in playing in the worship service. 

Nathan is currently a choral director and keyboard instructor in the Prince George County Public Schools (PGCPS) school system. He is also an associate director and musician at First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, Maryland. His main roles at the church are directing choirs, leading praise and worship, accompanying for all preachers, choirs, and ensembles.
